KONJAC, a reduced appetite for a controlled weight

Konjac titrated to 80% glucomannans
Contributes to weight loss when consumed as part of a low calorie diet
Konjac is a perennial plant composed of umbrella leaves of which only the tubers are used. It is used as an "appetite suppressant" to help with weight loss. Its "appetite suppressant" activity is linked to its high content of glucomannans, dietary fibers which possess a high water absorption capacity thanks to their important gelling properties.

One gram of these fibers can absorb up to 200 ml of water! As a result, the Konjac causes an increase in the viscosity of the food bolus, and therefore a slowing down of the gastric emptying. This results in a greater sensation of satiety and less absorption of sugars and fats.

A trial published in 2010 showed an average weight loss of 5.79 kg after 14 weeks. Waist circumference, blood cholesterol and blood glucose levels also declined sharply.

EFSA recognizes the effectiveness of Konjac for weight loss when consumed as part of a low-calorie diet. 1. CELTIPHARM 2015 - TNS SOFRES 2014 2. González Canga, N.
